For 2009, Hypercat Racing is offering an Ironman Arizona group training program in conjunction with the San Francisco Triathlon club. You need not be a member of the SF Tri Club to join our training group, but the SF Tri "PEPs" would love to have you!
Coach Philip Casanta and Coach Rachel Casanta will be attending Ironman Arizona and look forward to guiding you in your training preparations for race day!
The program is geared specifically for Ironman Arizona, but can be modified for other similarly timed Ironman events including Ironman Florida, Ironman Conzumel and Ironman Western Australia.
24 Week Ironman Arizona Training Program
The 24 week training program is broken in two 12 week training blocks.
The first 12 week block starts 6/8 and ends 8/30.
The second 12 week block starts 8/31 and ends 11/22.
Each training block is $225. You may purchase the entire 24 weeks up front ($450), or 12 weeks at a time. Please note: There are no refunds.
6/1/09 - Training program kick off meeting. Sports Basement, Presidio.
6/8/09 - Training program begins.
Program Includes:
1) Training plan including all swim, bike and run workouts. A supplemental core strength training program is also included. The program integrates the SF Tri spin and track programs, but provides alternate workouts for athletes outside of San Francisco or for those who are not participating in the SF Tri workouts.
2) Coached Group Workout Sessions.
There will be 18 coached workouts between June and November. One or more coaches will either lead, swim/bike/run along or sag the workout. Each week, an email will alert the group to the location of the coached workout.
3) Monthly Coach Talks.
Each month, typically on Mondays, a Hypercat coach will lead a talk on topics related to triathlon and Ironman training. Talks typically will run 60-90 min and allow time for Q&A.

4) Communications
a) Option to call coaches during specified office hours for short 5-10 min consults. Office hours will be posted via email each week.
b) Weekly short topic email on triathlon related topics will be posted to Hypercat & Ironprick yahoo groups.
c) Email Hypercat or Ironprick yahoo groups with your questions.
d) Subscription to Hypercat Racing newsletter.

12 Week "Base / Bridge to Ironman Arizona" Training Program
To help better prepare your body and mind for the rigors of Ironman training and to help familiarize you with the trainingpeaks software making a smooth training from being self-coached to coached, Hypercat Racing is offering a 12 week pre-Ironman training programs. For more information see below.
The idea behind the 12 week base/bridge to Ironman program is to prepare you to begin Ironman training. A gradual progression of periodized aerobic training is intended to help you maximize your later winter/spring training helping you to avoid injury through intelligent, planned training progressions.
The 12 week plan design is built on the assumption that you have trained up to (at minimum) the durations noted below.
1) Swimming - 1 hr sessions
2) Cycling - 2.5 hr long rides
3) Running - 1.5 hr long run
The plan includes:
-Daily detailed swim/bike/run workouts. -Basic Training Peaks account
-Q&A via coach moderated email group
