We packed 5 shoe boxes with various supplies and gifts. It was a great way to teach our kids about sharing, giving and helping folks who have less than we do. We opted to have our boxes tracked and learned that children in the Philippines received the shoe boxes. We were extremely fortunate to later be ...

The Escape from Alcatraz triathlon is one of the most famous triathlons in the world. Set against the backdrop of the beautiful city of San Francisco, this 1.5 mile swim, 18 mile bike and 8 mile run endurance challenge is favorite triathlon of many! The Escape from Alcatraz triathlon is one of the most famous triathlons in the world. Set against the backdrop of the beautiful city of San Francisco, this 1.5 mile swim, 18 mile bike and 8 mile run endurance challenge is one of my all time favorite triathlons. The introduction of the qualifying series as well as the random drawing to gain entrance to Alcatraz has transformed this race, once dominated by Bay Area residents and Californians into a race with athletes from all over the USA (and globe). Given the unique attributes of ...

On January 6th, 2016, my husband's Aunt Beverly passed away after a battle with breast cancer. When a family member dies, it rocks you to you core and forces you to look at mortality up close, to consider your own life and how you choose to spend your limited time on God's green Earth.
I've been coaching endurance athletes as a full-time profession for 15+ years. It is a rewarding pursuit on so many levels. I've coached high school cross country and track runners, adults new to running, cycling and swimming and adults competitive in the sports of aquathlon, duathlon and triathlon. I think everyone can benefit from a coach, to have guidance, support and accountability. Not everyone can, however, afford or ...
